Peperomia argyreia is all about the foliage. Fascinating fleshy leaves are banded with greens and greys that sway on central red purple stems giving it the alternative name of Watermelon Peperomia. Native to South America it likes the dappled light of a jungle floor which makes it particularly suited to lower indoor light conditions.

Light

Peperomia enjoy bright or moderate light conditions and will tolerate shade. Avoid direct sunlight. They do really well under fluorescent lights, making them ideal for the office or basement flat.

Watering

Water when the soil has almost dried out as Radiator Plants don't like to be overwatered. Use soft water if possible and water from below. Water is stored in the leaves making these plants drought resistant.

Temperature

The Watermelon Peperomia prefers environments with average to warm temperatures from 18-24°C but can cope with as low as 10°C. Avoid draughts however, as these can cause undesirable temperature fluctuations.

Humidity

Peperomia enjoy raised humidity levels but they do just fine in normal household conditions. Consider misting or relocating to the bathroom or kitchen for an added boost.

The Watermelon Peperomia is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 20 to 30cm - plus flower spikes.
